Ji Wu
Postdoc
Ji was born and raised in China but spent most of his teenage years and young adulthood in Singapore as a government-sponsored foreign high school and junior college student. Ji then obtained both his bachelor and PhD degrees from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in ChemE (Supervisor: Prof. Neal Tai-Shung CHUNG), and along the journey, have cultivated a strong interest for membrane separation technology, especially in areas that concern our clean energy future like hydrogen production, CO2 capture and water applications. After his first postdoc position at the NUS working with Prof. Sui ZHANG, Ji joined the Smith Lab in 2025 to deepen his research in novel microporous polymer structures and develop advanced hollow fiber thin-film membranes for CO2 capture. Ji believes in harnessing the power of membrane technology to make a real change for the environment and is passionate about building a membrane research team of his own in the future.
